INSOMNIUM Releases Music Video For 'Heart Like A Grave' Title Track

September 14, 2019

Finnish melodic death metallers INSOMNIUM have released a music video for the title track of their new album, "Heart Like A Grave", due out on October 4. The clip was filmed in the beautiful Finnish landscape of Koli national park by Vesa Ranta and Aapo Lahtela at Kaira Films, who filmed two videos in the same session with the band in the beginning of summer.

INSOMNIUM comments: "'Heart Like A Grave' is the title track of our eighth album, woven of sorrow and longing. It is looking back towards the golden days of youth, when things seemed brighter, and there was still hope of better days. A theme so predominant in the Finnish lyrics throughout the ages.

"The music video was shot at the epic locations of Koli national park near our hometown Joensuu with directors Vesa Ranta and Aapo Lahtela and Kaira Films team. It continues the same story that began in 'Valediction' video, so these two are bound together."

Consisting of 10 songs and over an hour of music, "Heart Like A Grave" evolved to be an epic tour de force of Finnish melancholy.

With four composers in the band, the sound of INSOMNIUM is now richer and more versatile than ever before.

In the name of Nordic collaboration, the Swedish wizard Jens Bogren has been doing the mixing and mastering and made "Heart Like A Grave" the best-sounding INSOMNIUM album ever.

INSOMNIUM said: "The concept of the album is to delve deep into the heart of the Finnish melancholy. We've been inspired by some of the bleakest and saddest songs, poems and tales that truly capture the essence of northern gloom. Land where the frost ravages the harvest and creeps inside the souls, summer ends before it even starts, wife leaves, little brother dies in snow on a Christmas morning, and the golden days of youth are forever gone. So there are echoes of Harmaja, Rautavaara, Vainio, Peltoniemen Hintriikka and, of course, our own petty, miserable lives."

"Heart Like A Grave" track listing:

01. Wail Of The North
02. Valediction
03. Neverlast
04. Pale Morning Star
05. And Bells They Toll
06. The Offering
07. Mute Is My Sorrow
08. Twilight Trails
09. Heart Like A Grave
10. Karelia

INSOMNIUM recently announced the addition of guitarist Jani Liimatainen (ex-SONATA ARCTICA) to the group's ranks.

In November, INSOMNIUM will embark on a comprehensive European tour with the support from the U.S. extreme metal kings THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and Finland’s fiercest quintet STAM1NA.
